House of Courts

Project Status : Ongoing

Area : 1350sq.ft

Location : Vadodara

Nestled in Vadodara, this architectural transformation centers on expanding an existing residence to accommodate the modern functional requirements of the family. Located on a linear plot, the renovation and extenstion have been deliberately separated by a courtyard, which ascts as a spatial buffer—a micro-climate dynamic that visually separates and harmoniously connects the existing structure with its contemporary extension.

While the original building was renovated inside to accommodate modern spatial requirements and lifestyle needs, the new extension embraces a deliberate contrast. Defined by a monolithic stonecrete mass, which houses the staircase, the design tries to articulate the main entry to the house.

The courtyard serves as the breathing heart of the home, allowing natural light and ventilation to filter into both wings. By pairing the character of the original framework with minimalist modern intervention, the design creates a balanced, timeless dialogue between functionality, elegance and modern living.
